It is kind of depressing to hear Frank Rich ponder it today, but the fact remains that equivocating on a matter as important as the lead up to war is not a viable general election strategy. Makes me want to go outside, roll a cigarette, look up toward the mountains and squint at the destiny that awaits.

Noun + verb + 9/11 — also Mr. Bush’s strategy in 2004, lest we forget — would once again square off against a Democratic opponent who was for a pre-emptive war before being against it.
